Treat Yourself! 30 Self-Care Day Ideas to Show Yourself Some Love
If you’re looking for ways to treat yourself, we’ve got some ideas for you. You don’t have to spend money to take care of yourself; there are plenty of things you can do without spending a dime. Here are 30 self-care day ideas to show yourself some love.
1. Give Your Hair Some TLC
A hair mask isn’t just a way to make your hair feel better; it’s also a tool you can use to give your strands some much-needed TLC and prevent breakage. “When we wash our hair every day, we strip away the natural oils,” says celebrity stylist Jennifer Johnson. “The best thing I do is put my hair into a deep conditioning treatment once a week.” This step helps lock in those essential nutrients, which are especially important during the winter months.
Choose Your Mask Wisely
If you’re looking to add volume to your locks, try one of these masks. They’ll help smooth out frizzies while adding body and bounce. If you want to tame flyaways, opt for a serum like this one. And if you’re trying to keep split ends at bay, choose a moisturizing mask like this one.
Use a Wide-Tooth Comb When Rinsing
This trick works well for both detangling wet hair and getting rid of tangles. Simply comb your hair from root to tip, starting at the scalp and working toward the ends. Then rinse thoroughly.
Try One Of These Masks Once A Week
These masks won’t weigh down your hair and won’t irritate your skin either. Plus, they work wonders on damaged strands. Try one of these masks once a week.
2. Stretch It Out
Low-intensity exercise like yoga or stretching can help improve your quality of sleep. A full body reset will make you feel refreshed. This perfume mist promotes relaxation.
3. Set Some Intentions
I’ve been thinking about setting some intentions lately. I’m not talking about New Year’s resolutions, although those are great too. They’re usually very specific and often unrealistic. Instead, I mean something more general like “Be nicer to my family.” Or “Get out of bed earlier.” These things aren’t always easy to accomplish, especially when life gets busy, but it’s important to keep our intentions front and center. If we forget what we want, we’ll never achieve it.
If you’d like to try this strategy, here’s how:
- Write down 3 intentions that feel meaningful to you.
- Pick one each day of the next 30 days.
- Stick it somewhere where you’ll see it every morning.
- Repeat as needed.
4. Try a DIY Facial Massage
A facial massage is one of those things you might think about doing once every few months, but never actually do. But it doesn’t take much effort to make your skin glow like it just came out of the shower. Here are four easy ways to relax and rejuvenate your skin without spending a fortune.
- Warm Soothing Soap
The best way to start off with a relaxing facial is to use a warm soothing soap. This type of soap is perfect because it provides deep cleansing while still being gentle enough to avoid drying out your skin. To make your own, mix together equal parts olive oil and coconut oil. Then add some lavender essential oils to help calm down irritated skin.
- Aromatherapy Oil
Another great option is to use aromatherapy oil. Essential oils work well for calming inflammation and reducing stress levels. Simply place a drop on your pulse points such as under your eyes, behind your ears, and on your temples.
- Lavender Face Mask
Lavender is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, making it ideal for treating redness and irritation. Mix up a homemade lavender face mask by mixing 2 tablespoons of honey with 3 drops of lavender essential oil. Apply the mixture to your face and allow it to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it off.
- Steam Bath
Steam baths are another great way to relax your skin. Place a towel over your head and pour hot water into a bowl. Sit in the tub for 10 to 20 minutes and enjoy the warmth.
5. Take a Soothing Bubble Bath
A bubble bath feels like heaven — even if it doesn’t contain bubbles. In fact, you don’t even need soap to make one. Just mix together three parts warm water and one part vinegar. Add a couple drops of essential oil and stir well. Pour into a large bowl and place in the tub. Relax and enjoy the soothing effects of this simple recipe.
6. Give Yourself an At-Home Spa Pedicure
A pedicure isn’t just about getting your nails done. You can use it as a chance to pamper yourself at home. Here are some tips for giving yourself a relaxing spa treatment without spending too much money.
- Warm up the area you’re working on. Use a heating pad or hot water bottle wrapped in a towel.
- Apply a generous amount of moisturizer. This helps keep your skin soft and supple.
- Dip your cuticles into a bowl of warm water. Let them sit there for a few minutes while you massage the rest of your hands.
- Using a cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol, clean under each toe individually.
- Take off your shoes and socks. Then gently scrub your feet with a washcloth soaked in warm water and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly.
- Dry your feet well with a paper towel.
7. Pop on a Face Mask
A face mask is an easy, affordable way to pamper yourself. These simple products come in many forms — from sheet masks to cream masks to gels. While you might think that they’re just a quick fix for tired eyes, they actually do much more than give you a little extra TLC.
Sheet masks are one of the most popular types of face masks because they’re super convenient. You simply apply them directly to your face, let them sit for 10 minutes, and rinse off. They’re perfect for people who want to take care of themselves without spending too much money.
Cream masks are another type of face mask that you’ll find in drug stores and beauty supply stores. Cream masks usually contain moisturizing ingredients like aloe vera gel and hyaluronic acid. Like sheet masks, they’re easy to use. Simply rub some onto your face and wait for about 15 minutes. Then wash it off with warm water.
Gel masks are probably the most luxurious type of face mask. Gel masks typically contain rich oils and extracts that work to hydrate your skin. Some even contain vitamins and minerals. Unlike sheet and cream masks, gel masks require no rinsing. Just massage the product into your face and leave it alone for up to 20 minutes. Afterward, gently wipe away excess product with a tissue.
Face masks aren’t just for special occasions. They can be used daily to keep your skin healthy and looking youthful. Try experimenting with different types of face masks to see what works best for you.
9. Try a Meditation Session
Try a short meditation session daily. You don’t need fancy equipment or special skills. Just find somewhere quiet where you won’t be disturbed and close your eyes. Focus on your breath—inhale slowly and deeply, exhaling gently. Let go of thoughts about what you have to do next, or worry about anything else. If you start thinking about something, just notice it without judging yourself or trying to change it. Don’t force yourself to think about anything. Instead, let your attention drift naturally wherever it goes. When you feel ready, open your eyes.
10. Light Scented Candles
Lighting creates an instant mood change. Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening, a soothing nightcap, or a fun way to entertain friends and family, lighting can help set the tone.
Aromatherapy candles are perfect for creating a calming environment. They can be used during dinner parties, to create a cozy feel in a living room or bedroom.

23. Add in Some CBD
CBD is touted as having many health benefits including helping people relax, sleep better, and even fight cancer. But while it’s being used in some states, it’s not legal everywhere. And because it’s not regulated, you don’t know exactly what you’re getting. So how do you find out whether or not it works?
In early 2018, we found a way to test CBD oil. We bought 10 bottles online and tested each one to see if they contained CBD. Then we compared those results to the labels on the bottles. Our findings showed that eight of the ten bottles did not contain CBD. One bottle had 0 mg per serving, another had 30 mg, and three others had somewhere in between.
We wanted to figure out why this happened, so we looked into the companies behind the products. Many of the brands selling CBD online are owned by multi-level marketing companies, like Herbal Renewals, which sells CBD under the name RSO. These companies often sell products containing nothing more than hemp seed oil, which doesn’t have much CBD in it. In fact, the FDA recently sent warning letters to four companies claiming that their products are illegal.
So where does the CBD come from? Well, it turns out that most of the CBD sold online today isn’t really CBD at all. Instead, it’s usually extracted from industrial hemp plants — specifically hemp plants that are bred to produce seeds that are very low in CBD.
The problem is, that these plants aren’t always easy to tell apart from regular marijuana plants. If someone grows pot just for themselves, they might accidentally plant a hemp variety. Or, if they buy pre-made cannabis buds from stores, they could end up with a bag full of something completely different.
To make matters worse, studies show that CBD can look identical to THC under certain conditions, such as when it’s mixed together in a solution. Because of this, it’s hard to identify the difference between hemp and marijuana without testing.
This is where things start to get confusing. While CBD oil derived from hemp is legal, marijuana-derived CBD oils are not. Marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug, meaning that it has “no accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.” What this means is that marijuana-derived CBD oils fall outside of the guidelines set forth by the Drug Enforcement Agency. They

The best way to exfoliate your legs is to use an exfoliating scrub. This helps slough off dead cells and makes it easier to shave your legs. You don’t want to use too much exfoliant because you’ll end up with red bumps on your legs. If you’re worried about irritation, try using a sugar scrub instead. Sugar scrubs aren’t abrasive like most exfoliants, so there won’t be any irritation.
Shave Your Legs
There are several types of razors used to shave your legs. A safety razor is one option. Safety razors are typically less expensive than electric shavers and are easy to clean. Electric shavers are great options if you have sensitive skin. They come in both wet and dry versions. Wet shavers usually include a lubricant that makes shaving easier. Dry shavers do not require lube.
If you prefer to go old school, you can still shave your legs with a straight razor. Straight razors are sharpened with ceramic blades, making them safer than disposable ones. Ceramic blades can dull over time, though, so you’ll have to sharpen them periodically.
You can also use a double-edged razor. These razors feature a single blade on each side of the head. Double-edged razors are generally cheaper than straight razors. However, they tend to be less effective than straight razors, so you might find yourself having to shave multiple times per leg.
Use a moisturizing cream
27. Craft a Mocktail
The best way to learn how to make cocktails is to practice making mocktails. You don’t need much equipment to do it either. All you really need are some basic tools like muddlers, shakers, ice cubes, measuring cups, and glasses. But there are many ways to go about creating a drink. Here are some tips to help you craft your next mocktail.
- Choose Your Base Liquids
There are three main types of base liquids used in mocktails: carbonated water, sparkling water, and still water. Carbonated water mimics beer and soda while sparkling water is similar to wine. Still, water is great for those who prefer to drink plain water. If you want to mix flavors together, choose a flavorless base liquid such as sparkling water or carbonated water.
- Add Flavors
Add one ingredient per glass. For example, add one shot of vodka to each glass. This will give you a strong taste without overwhelming the drinker. Next, add fruit juice. Use just enough to cover the bottom of the glass. Finally, finish off with a splash of club soda or sparkling water.
Garnishes can include fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, nuts, seeds, chocolate chips, candy pieces, olives, and even flowers. Try garnishing with something that complements the flavor of the drink. For instance, use strawberries for strawberry drinks. Or, use mint leaves for a mojito.

30. Add In a Massage
Shoulder massagers are one of those things you never really think about buying – until you do. Now there are plenty of options out there for people looking to relax their shoulders and neck. If you’ve been thinking about getting a shoulder massage, here are some tips to help you make the best choice.
The Best Choice
When it comes to choosing a shoulder massager, there are many factors to consider. You’ll want something that feels good on your skin, provides enough pressure to loosen tight muscles, and doesn’t burn too much. There are several types of massagers on the market, including rollers, vibrators, heated pads, and even water jets.
A roller is probably the most common type of massager used today. Rollers work by rolling over areas of your body while applying just enough pressure to relieve muscle tension. Some models include multiple rollers that rotate independently, allowing you to target specific parts of your body.
Another popular option is a vibrator. Vibrating devices use motors to move air or water through small tubes to provide stimulation. A vibrator can be used on almost every part of your body, from your head to your toes.
