Water evaporates out of the cells in our bodies and leaves behind salt, minerals, and other substances. These substances must be replaced. If we lose too much water, our blood volume decreases, causing the heart to work harder to pump blood around the body. Our kidneys also become stressed trying to filter waste products from the bloodstream.

When we’re dehydrated, our skin takes longer to heal. We often experience itching, burning, and redness. Some people even develop blisters.

What Causes Dehydrated Skin?

Water is essential for life. It’s important to drink at least eight glasses of water each day. That includes both plain water and flavored drinks. Try adding lemon slices or cucumber slices to your water.

Add Moisturizing Ingredients To Your Diet

You can use moisturizer on your skin to help retain moisture. Look for ingredients that contain glycerin, aloe vera, lactic acid, urea, and/or panthenol.

Moisturize Your Hair With A Shampoo And Conditioner

Use a shampoo with an emollient base.

Choose one that contains glycerin, aloes, or panthenol. Avoid shampoos containing sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), which strips away natural oils from your hair.

Use a conditioner that has a high content of protein. Protein-rich conditioners help repair damaged hair strands.

Wash Your Hands Frequently

It may seem silly, but washing your hands frequently will prevent dry skin. You should wash them after using the bathroom, before eating, and after touching anything else.
